BUSINESSES in Helensburgh are being warned to look out for fake bank notes which have reportedly been circulating in the area in recent weeks.
Local police say they have recovered a number of counterfeit notes, of £20 and £50 denominations, some of which state in small lettering that they are for film use only and are not legal tender.
The notes are reportedly being passed for items of less value at various retail premises in the town, allowing for the individual to be given legitimate change with the item.

Stores are asked to be on guard for larger notes being passed.
This week police confirmed that a 40-year-old man from Airdrie has been charged with attempting to purchase goods using counterfeit bank notes.
The man is said to have attended a shop in East Princes Street on Tuesday, March 23 and used a fake note which alerted the shopkeeper.
A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
