THE organisers of the Luss Highland Gathering have confirmed the event will not be held this year.

It’s the second year in a row that the hugely popular event has been cancelled due to the pandemic.

Last month the organisers of the Helensburgh and Lomond Highland Games and the Rosneath Highland Gathering confirmed that their events would not take place in 2021 because of uncertainty over the country's Covid-19 restrictions.

The Luss Gathering's organisers said in a statement on Facebook: “The Luss Highland Gathering Committee held a vote on the March 31, 2021, and we are sad to confirm that this year’s Luss Highland Gathering is now cancelled for this year.

“We all hope you stay safe and well and we will see you all again in 2022.”

No formal announcement has been made about the fate of this year's Loch Lomond Highland Games, held in Balloch every July, but Allan Jones, the Loch Lomond event's secretary, said last month that the "board and volunteers are currently considering what form of event we may be able to organise this coming July".
