PHOTOGRAPHERS were out in force this week to capture images of the famous Jacobite steam train as it passed through the west of Scotland on its way to the West Highlands.
The two steam engines, both built in the 1930s, and their coaches were making the annual journey north from their winter base at Carnforth in Lancashire to Fort William, where tourist excursions to Mallaig will begin later this month.
The pictures featured here were all taken by members of the Camera Club groups on Facebook for the Clydebank Post, Dumbarton & Vale of Leven Reporter, and Helensburgh Advertiser, as the train passed by Singer, Bowling and Craigendoran on Monday.
A second vintage train with more coaches for the Jacobite tours followed on Wednesday, though that one was pulled by a 1960s diesel locomotive rather than a pre-war steam engine.
