According to the Advertiser's sister title, the Glasgow Times, the woman has been named locally as Charmaine O'Donnell from Glasgow.

Connect Community Trust in the East End wrote: "We have heard the sad news of Charmaine O’Donnell passing.

"Our staff have such fond memories of Charmaine when she attended sessions. Fond memories of her infectious laugh, personality and the endless hours we spent with her listening to Nicki Minaj. Such a talented, kind and positive person she will be truly missed by all here at CCT.

"Our thoughts and love are with her family and friends."

JustGiving fundraiser launched for her family quickly reached its £500 target.

Images from the scene show police tape sealing off part of the pier, which has a “no swimming” sign, and white-suited forensic officers analysing the area.

Police said that a 28-year-old man has been charged in connection with the death.

He is due to appear at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Monday.
