A LOCAL Rotary club is nearing the first milestone in its bid to fund five new life-saving defibrillators across Helensburgh and Lomond during the course of 2021.
The Helensburgh Garelochside Rotary’s Save Our Hearts campaign, which was featured on the front page of the Advertiser on April 8, has raised £1,425 in just four weeks – leaving it just £175 short of the cash it needs to buy the first of those public access defibrillators, or PADs for short.
The club has also uploaded the latest in a series of short videos on social media showing the locations of existing PADs in Helensburgh and Lomond – as well as highlighting “defib deserts” which the club hopes the campaign can fill.
The videos on the Rotary Club of Helensburgh Garelochside page on Facebook began with the locations of the 13 PADs in Helensburgh, before moving on to Loch Lomond, Tarbet and Arrochar, and then to Rhu, Shandon and Garelochhead.
All the area’s PADs are featured on a map at trossachsdefibrillator.co.uk, while the Rotary fund-raiser is at gofund.me/2145618e.
