A COVID testing site for people in Helensburgh and Lomond who aren’t showing any signs of the virus is temporarily changing location this week.

The asymptomatic test centre was set up in Helensburgh Parish Church hall in Colquhoun Square at the end of March and last month Live Argyll, the charitable trust responsible for leisure and library services in the area, announced it would be taking over the running of the facility.

This week the organisation said that the site will move to Helensburgh Library in West King Street as a result of the Scottish Parliament elections, with voters heading to the polls today (Thursday, May 6).

The asymptomatic testing centre was due to move yesterday (Wednesday), remaining in place at the library until Saturday, May 8.

Opening hours will be the same as current testing arrangements from 10am-4pm, and the test site will be based on the upper floor of the library with library opening hours remaining unaffected.

Argyll and Bute Council said more than 50 people were tested at the centre during the first week after it opened.

The facility is only for people who are not showing any of the symptoms of Covid-19 – a new continuous cough, a fever, or a loss in sense of taste or smell.

People who do develop any of those symptoms should book a test appointment online at nhsinform.scot or call NHS 24 on 0800 028 2816.
