ARGYLL and Bute has gone a full week without a single confirmed positive case of Covid-19, figures have revealed.

The data made available by Public Health Scotland has also shown that only one confirmed positive test has been recorded for each rolling seven-day period since the beginning of May.

A map of Scotland giving figures for each council area shows Argyll and Bute as one of only four which had recorded no cases in the seven days up to Sunday, May 9.

The other three are all entirely island areas – the Western Islands, Orkney and Shetland.

Confirmed Covid case numbers in Argyll and Bute dropped into single figures more than two months ago, on March 6, and with one exception – the week ending March 7, when there were 10 cases – have not risen into double figures since then.

The latest figures come amid concern at rising case numbers in Glasgow, and were published as Helensburgh, and the rest of the country, prepares for the move into Level 2 lockdown rules on Monday, May 17.
