A MAN who was allegedly more than five times over the alcohol limit while driving through Helensburgh has been charged by police.
A white Volkswagen Golf was reportedly observed being driven erratically on Henry Bell Street on Friday night, May 28.
Officers stopped the vehicle, whose driver was identified as a 25-year-old from Liverpool.
Police say a strong smell of alcohol was detected from the driver, and a subsequent breath sample allegedly showed an alcohol reading above the legal limit of 22 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath.
The man was arrested and taken to Clydebank police office where further breath samples were taken and analysed.
The driver was reportedly found to have been more than five times over the legal limit. He was charged and released to appear at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on a later date.
