CRAIGHELEN Tennis and Squash Club is holding a junior summer tennis camp next week as the school summer holidays get into full swing.
The camp takes place at the club’s Helensburgh courts from Monday, July 5 to Friday, July 9 and is open to junior members and non-members alike, with three different age group sessions available.
The club is hoping the camp will build on the success of a recent series of junior coaching sessions for all age groups at the club.
These include the LTA ‘Youth Start’ initiative for children aged four to eleven, who are new to tennis, with the emphasis on having fun. The coaching sessions have been designed to develop foundational skills that allow participation in tennis coaching, events, and beginners competitions.
All sessions have been well attended and enjoyed by all participants.
Coaching for adult beginners at the club has also been popular and social tennis sessions for members are being held every week.
Membership for new adult members is currently £99 and juniors £20 until the end of March 2022. Further details about the club, membership categories and coaching can be found at www.craighelen.net, while Felix Carpenter can be contacted at felixc.coaching@gmail.com for more information about the junior summer camp and adult coaching sessions.
Members of all ages are hoping the sun will continue to shine through the summer after enjoying play throughout the last year in accordance with government guidelines, tennis being one of the sports that was allowed to continue during the pandemic.
Squash play at the club is currently restricted to solo play, or play between members of the same household, but the club hopes those restrictions can be eased as soon as Level 0 Covid protection measures are in place, currently scheduled for July 19, to enable normal squash play to resume.
