A HELENSBURGH pub has been closed to customers after a staff member reportedly tested positive for Covid-19.

An announcement shared on The Commodore Inn's Facebook page this week said that the West Clyde Street venue will be shut until the middle or end of next week.

The post read: "Since reopening we have been following the stringent Covid-secure protocols we successfully introduced at our restaurant last year and it has been great to be serving our amazing guests once again.

"Unfortunately, following the return of a positive Covid-19 test from one of our team, we have had to close the pub as of today [Wednesday].

"We have a small team and work in bubbles to keep risk minimal but the number of team members required to isolate means we cannot operate the business as usual."

Last week the Sugar Boat restaurant in Colquhoun Square was forced to close for similar reasons, while the Mandarin Chinese takeaway, Helensburgh Eyecare, and the bar and restaurant at Rosneath Castle caravan park have also been affected locally in recent weeks.

The Commodore's social media update continued: "The safety of our guests and our team is our highest priority and we are working closely with our safety experts, the EHO, Health Protection Scotland and Test and Protect to ensure this.

"We are in the process of notifying all guests that we are closed and will notify guests of further updates going forward.

"We’re sorry for any disappointment this may cause, but we’d like to thank our guests and our team for their support shown and we look forward to welcoming you back soon, hopefully by the middle/end of next week."
