POLICE in Helensburgh are seeking information on a teenager accused of racially abusing a member of staff at a town supermarket.

The incident happened after staff at the Morrisons store on Cardross Road reportedly prevented the theft of alcohol by a group of six youths on Saturday night, July 10.

The group, made up of four males and two females, are said to have tried to steal the booze at around 10pm.

One of the females in the group allegedly behaved in a racially abusive manner towards a staff member and was last seen going towards the fuel station outside the shop.

Police say the female was around 17 or 18 years of age, white, and with brown hair.

At the time of the incident she was wearing a white top and black leggings.

Police say their enquiries into the incident are ongoing and that CCTV footage from the store will be reviewed as part of the investigation.

A crime report has been raised with a racial aggravation and anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who may have information that could assist police, is asked to contact Helensburgh police office or call 101 anonymously.
