A MAN who reportedly crashed a vehicle near to the Faslane naval base has been charged with drink driving.
Police in Helensburgh received a call from Ministry of Defence Police at HMNB Clyde shortly after 11pm on Sunday, July 11 reporting concern over the manner of driving of a silver Chrysler.
The vehicle had reportedly collided with a lamppost near to the naval base, and officers attended and identified a 23-year-old man from Leeds as the driver.
He allegedly failed a roadside breath test and was arrested and taken to Clydebank police office.
Further samples are said to have shown that the level of alcohol in the driver’s breath was more than three times over the legal limit, which in Scotland is 22 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath.
The man was held in custody pending a court appearance.
