A LOCAL campaigner has been praised in the Scottish Parliament for her years of work teaching life-saving skills in Helensburgh and Lomond and beyond.
Sheenah Nelson’s Champion of Change award from Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland, recently reported in the Advertiser, earned her a motion of congratulation at Holyrood from local MSP Jackie Baillie.
Sheenah, co-ordinator of the Heartstart scheme with Helensburgh Garelochside Rotary, won the award for teaching members of the public vital CPR skills and raising funds to improve the network of public access defibrillators across Helensburgh, Lomond, West Dunbartonshire and the Trossachs.
Her efforts also won her a British Empire Medal (BEM) in the Queen’s birthday honours list in 2018.
