ARROCHAR’S Shonny Paterson was at the front of the grid once again with another double podium finish in the latest round of the Scottish Motor Racing Club’s Classic Sports and Saloons series.

Qualifying fourth on the grid for race one at Knockhill, Paterson lost ground after a coming-together with one of his rivals, at the hairpin on lap three.

Another competitor, however, went off on lap seven, bringing out a safety car that allowed Paterson to close on the leaders and move up to second on the final lap behind race winner John Kinmond in his Rover 3500.

Race two was a bit less eventful with Paterson enjoying a fairly easy run to third place in his venerable Triumph TR8, Kinmond again crossing the line in first place ahead of Tommy Gilmartin’s Morgan +8.

Sunday’s results leave Paterson in fourth place in the championship ahead of the next races on August 8.

Paterson said: “Thanks again to my support team of Tillie, Coll, Seoras and Matilda and Cameron Coach and Vehicle Repairs.”
