KILCREGGAN Medical Centre is offering drop-in Covid vaccinations for local 16-17-year-olds this weekend.

As of Tuesday (August 10) all Pfizer drop-in vaccine centres in Scotland are offering 16 and 17-year-olds the Covid jab, with the Scottish Government saying everyone in that age group would be offered their first dose by the end of September.

However, the nearest drop-in centre for Helensburgh and Lomond residents - under the NHS Highland banner - is in Oban, prompting the peninsula practice to offer a closer solution.

A post on the centre’s Facebook page on Monday read: “16 and 17-year-olds - you may be invited by the health board to have your Covid vaccine at one of their drop-in clinics. The bad news is the drop-in clinic for our area is...Oban!

“However, knowing how impractical having to go to Oban is - although a lovely town for a day out - we have received permission to offer the Pfizer vaccination here at Kilcreggan surgery to any of our patients who are 16 or 17 now, or will be by this Saturday, August 14.

“We have a vaccination clinic on Saturday so just call us for an appointment, alternatively just pop along between 2pm and 4pm (when we should be a little less busy) and we will fit you in.

“Of course, if you happen to be passing Oban on August 22 or September 5 the drop-in clinic will be there to welcome you.”

For NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde patients there are drop-in vaccination centres in Alexandria and Clydebank.

You can find your nearest drop-in centre by visiting nhsinform.scot/covid-19-vaccine/invitations-and-appointments/vaccine-drop-in-clinics and clicking on your local NHS Board.
