MEMBERS of the public will have a chance to find out more about beekeeping at an event being held in Cardross this weekend.

The popular Geilston Garden in the village will play host to members of the Helensburgh Beekeepers’ Society on Sunday, September 5, providing information about bees and a mini hive for demonstrations, as well as jars of honey for sale.

They will be present along with the Friends of Geilston’s monthly pop-up cafe from 11am-3pm – with honey set to feature in the home baking supplied by members of the Friends.

There will be a short performance by the Helensburgh Oratorio Choir at 2pm.

Normal admission charges apply at the property, which is owned by the National Trust for Scotland and is open from 10am-5pm, with last entry at 4pm.

Meanwhile, there’s now less than a fortnight left to enter the Friends’ annual photography competition, in which the 12 best entries will feature on the Friends’ 2022 calendar.

Email up to three of the favourite pictures you’ve taken at Geilston – landscape format only, with a suitable caption, and at least 1MB in size – to fogphotos2022@gmail.com by 6pm on Monday, September 13.

Full details, including terms and conditions, are at friendsofgeilston.org.
