MEDICAL centre staff in Helensburgh are in training for a sponsored walk next month as they set out to raise cash for a local mental health charity.

The team at the Millig Practice is aiming to raise £1,000 by Christmas to support the work of Jean’s Bothy after choosing the ENABLE Scotland mental health hub in the town as their charity of the year.

The entire team will begin their fund-raising efforts with a sponsored walk on Sunday, October 3 over a distance of either five or 10 kilometres depending on age and fitness levels.

A spokesperson for the practice said: “Helensburgh Sailing Club has kindly donated their facilities for Team HQ and Fancy Fillings in West Clyde Street are kindly sponsoring the refuelling of our walkers.

“Practice staff, families of staff, dogs and anyone we can persuade to join us will be walking for 5 or 10K.

“If you see us out and about, give us a wave or a hoot!”

Katrina Sayer, development manager at Jean’s Bothy, said: “We are so pleased to have been chosen as the Millig Practice’s charity of the year.

“This kind of local community support is really appreciated. Linking in with GP practices is vital for us to ensure we reach those who need support and we look forward to developing those links.”
