A FUND-RAISING target for Helensburgh’s mental health hub has been smashed – after just a single event.
Staff at the Millig Practice at Helensburgh Medical Centre in East King Street recently set themselves the goal of raising £1,000 by Christmas to support the award-winning service at Jean’s Bothy in the town.
Joined by family, friends and some eager four-legged companions, Team Millig set out on their first fund-raising event – a sponsored walk around the town – on Sunday morning.
And when the dust settled, it was discovered that they’d raised more than £1,400.
Posting on social media afterwards a spokesperson for the practice said: “Awesome effort from Team Millig. 10k/5k completed in the pouring rain – we may have all been soaked to the skin but it didn’t stop us having fun and raising money for a great cause.”
The team thanked Helensburgh Sailing Club for providing a place for the walkers to get warm and dry afterwards, the town’s Morrisons supermarket for water and cereal bars, and Fancy Fillings for the sandwiches shared out at the end of the walk.
