A CARDROSS singer-songwriter is in the running to be crowned Gaelic singer of the year for 2021 – and she needs your votes to win.

Ainsley Hamill has been nominated in the category at the Scots Trad Music Awards, with the winners to be announced on December 4.

Having released her debut feature album, Not Just Ship Land, in April, the former Hermitage Academy pupil is hoping to cap a successful 12 months by coming out on top against Iain ‘Costello’ Maciver, Kim Carnie and Mairi Macmillan.

She said: “It would mean the world to me if I was to win as these awards really help to boost ‘trad’ musicians’ careers.

“It would also be really nice to win an award!”

Voting closes on Sunday, November 14 at midnight. Head to surveymonkey.co.uk/r/Tradsvoting2021 and look out for Ainsley in question seven of the multiple choice form.
