A CLIMATE change event held in Helensburgh last weekend has been declared a success by the organisers.

Saturday's family friendly event was held in the Helensburgh and Lomond Civic Centre and enabled people to discover how they can become more climate friendly in their everyday lives.

Visitors had the chance to try out an electric bike; find out ways to make their home more energy efficient; and see the council’s wide range of electric vehicles.

Those in attendance were also given an insight into what happens to people’s waste after it’s put into household bins across Helensburgh and Lomond.

The efforts of the children and young people taking part in a climate change poster competition really stole the show.

Alongside the event, members of Plastic Free Helensburgh and Time for Change Argyll and Bute held a demonstration at the venue.

Council leader Robin Currie said: “The event was extremely encouraging and the quality of the art competition entries were incredible. They really demonstrated the importance that our children and young people place on climate change, and the commitment they have to helping reverse global warming for future generations.

“We are continuing to work alongside our partners to help Argyll and Bute become the UK’s first Net Zero region and I feel very positive that together we can achieve this.”
