THE first face-to-face fund-raising event at Cardross Parish Church for two years has brought in almost £2,000 for the church’s funds.

An afternoon tea at the church halls last Saturday brought in plenty of customers of all ages keen not just to enjoy a cuppa and some delicious sandwiches and home baking, but also to enjoy the experience of being able to gather and enjoy others’ company at the church for the first time since the pandemic struck.

The church’s minister, the Rev Maggie McArthur, said afterwards: “My sincere thanks to everyone who made our afternoon tea fund-raiser such a success.

“To those who donated baking and items for the raffle to go along with the hamper from Morrisons in Helensburgh; to those who set up the hall and made the tables look so beautiful; to the Montgomery Family at Ardardan for the use of their tiered tea plate stands; to those who served copious amounts of tea and coffee and did all the clearing up; to those who helped in many other ways; and to those who came along and supported us - thank you.

“It was a joyful day and well worth doing inspite of the Covid restrictions.”

The total raised so far is £1,926.
