A NEW production of a smash hit play that has entertained audiences around the world is coming to Arrochar and Cove this weekend.

Every Brilliant Thing, by the Olivier Award-nominated Duncan Macmillan with Jonny Donahoe, is the first touring production by Mull Theatre’s newly-appointed artistic director Rebecca Atkinson-Lord.

The original won four-star reviews from The Guardian and the Daily Telegraph, while no less a publication than the New York Times describing it as “captivating…guaranteed to keep your eyes brimming…often very funny…takes the chill off the depths of a light-starved winter”.

Based on “true and untrue stories”, it tells the story of a seven-year-old boy’s attempts to cheer up his mum, who suffers from depression, by creating a list of everything that’s worth living for – a list that includes ice cream, water fights, staying up past your bedtime and being allowed to watch TV, the colour yellow and “things with stripes”.

The Mull Theatre production stars Naomi Stirrat, a graduate of Queen Margaret and Edinburgh Napier universities who has worked on stage productions and developments with the likes of the Traverse Theatre, Dogstar Theatre and Imaginate.

Since its premiere at Mull Theatre on Bonfire Night, the new production of Every Little Thing has toured venues across its home island, but this week is branching out with performances in Oban, Greenock and Lochgoilhead.

And local audiences will be able to enjoy the show at the Three Villages Hall in Arrochar on Friday, November 19 at 7.30pm and Cove Burgh Hall on Saturday, November 20.

Tickets for the Arrochar performance are available at comar.co.uk or at the door on the night; tickets for the show in Cove on Saturday are available at coveburghhall.org.uk.
