HELENSBURGH’s inshore lifeboat has received a welcome boost from Buddies In Boats, a group of generous current and former submariners.
The kind-hearted Buddies have raised around £55,000 for local charities in the area since 2013, with Gareloch Riding for the Disabled Association, Helensburgh and Lomond Carers and Helensburgh Sea Cadets among the organisations benefitting in 2021.
The group donated £300 to the local lifeboat crew last week, having raised more than £3,500 in Helensburgh this year.
Howard Morrison, the RNLI’s local operations manager, said: “A big thank you to Buddies in Boats for their generous and welcome donation in what has been a very challenging couple of years for many.
“We are extremely grateful for their support and for the support of the public, without whom we would not be able to save lives at sea.”
Buddies in Boats members Colin Draper, Pamela Durrant, and Neil Carney presented the cheque to RNLI Helensburgh crew members Andrew Bullingham and Jamie Byrne in a handover ceremony at The Ashton in West Princes Street.
