TWO more people have died in Argyll and Bute as a result of Covid-19, according to the latest government figures.

Official statistics by the National Records of Scotland show that between Monday, November 15, and Sunday, November 21, two residents lost their lives in the area where Covid was mentioned on the death certificate.

However, last week there were one Covid deaths compared to two week agos where the figure has increased to five.

It means that the number of people who have died from Covid in Argyll and Bute in 2021 stands at 43.

A total of 129 Covid-related deaths have now been recorded in the area since the start of the pandemic.

As with previous figures on deaths and vaccination rates, there is no breakdown of how many of the deaths happened in Helensburgh and Lomond.

Nicola Sturgeon gave her weekly Covid update to Parliament yesterday, during which she announced small scale changes to the vaccine passport scheme.

The First Minister confirmed that Scottish vaccine passport scheme will not be extended to include cinemas, theatres and other hospitality venues.

She also said that from December 6, a negative lateral flow test can be used instead of a vaccine passport where proof of vaccination is required.
