A FORMER Lomond School pupil's sportswear company has secured a contract to supply clothing to teams competing in a world-famous rowing rivalry.

Rival Kit, founded by ex Lomond student Ryan Morrison and business partner Jenny Stevenson in 2017, has announced a two-year partnership with The Boat Race which will see the brand supply training and race day kit to the men’s and women’s crews at Oxford and Cambridge universities.

The next meeting of the two historic educational institutions will take place on April 3 next year and with spectators set to return following a closed doors event this year, Rival Kit's founders said the new deal offers a huge chance to grow the brand.

Ryan and Jenny said: "Our brand has grown through the support of the British rowing community so this partnership with The Boat Race means that little bit more to us.

"It is an exciting opportunity to showcase our kit and demonstrate the power of our revolutionary production technology."

Keen rower Ryan, 23, set up Rival Kit four years ago while studying at Edinburgh University with Jenny and he credited his old school for helping him on his entrepreneurial journey.

Ryan said: “We are so excited to be partnering with the Boat Race.

"This is a massive stepping stone for us and is a brilliant opportunity to showcase our kit to a global audience.

"Since leaving Lomond School they have always been a big supporter of Rival.

"If it wasn't for this early support, we would not have gotten to where we are today.”

Johanna Urquhart, Lomond School principal, said: “It is always fantastic to hear of the successes of our Lomond School alumni.

"In Ryan’s case, it is even more encouraging to see a former pupil combining one of their passions with the knowledge and skills they have gained in their education to create a successful business.

"Ryan achieved a lot during his time at Lomond, including a plethora of accolades for rowing. His drive and enthusiasm for life makes it no great surprise that he has secured such a high profile contract.

"We wish him every success!”
