MORE than £2,500 was raised to support the work of Helensburgh’s volunteer lifeboat crew during the town’s Winter Festival at the weekend.
RNLI mascot Stormy Stan paid a visit to the charity’s stall in Colquhoun Square and posed with lifeboat supporters of all ages during the event.
Linda Pender, chair of the RNLI’s Helensburgh fund-raising committee, said: “A big thank you to everyone who visited our stall. It was fantastic to see so many people turning out in the cold.

"We are extremely grateful to everyone who visited our stand to buy RNLI Christmas cards, calendars and diaries, one of our stocking fillers or a raffle ticket and donations.
“We were overwhelmed with people’s generosity in supporting Helensburgh’s lifeboat and crew.
“Thank you too, to all the local shops and businesses who donated wonderful raffle prizes.”
The Helensburgh crew has had almost 50 call-outs so far this year.
