ARGYLL and Bute has one of the lowest rates of domestic abuse in Scotland, according to new figures.
A study by Police Scotland revealed there were 78 incidents of domestic abuse per 10,000 people reported in the authority between April 1, 2020, and March 31, 2021.
Just six other areas recorded a lower number, including Aberdeenshire, the Shetland Islands, and East Dunbartonshire at 65, 63, and 62, respectively.
Dundee topped the list at 177, whilst the Scottish average was found to be 119.
The study also found that 39 per cent of incidents of domestic abuse recorded by police in the council authority included at least one crime or offence being recorded.
Police Scotland recorded 65,251 incidents of domestic abuse in 2020-21, an increase of four per cent compared to the previous year.
