THE driver of a vehicle which crashed in Helensburgh at the weekend has been reported for allegedly being more than three times the legal alcohol limit while at the wheel.
Police were called to a report of a road traffic collision in the town at around 10pm on Saturday in which a male was said to have crashed his vehicle into a fence and hedge on Rhu Road Higher.
After a preliminary breath sample was taken at the scene, the 28-year-old driver, from Helensburgh, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving. After being taken to Clydebank police office he was reportedly found to be approximately three and a half times the legal drink drive limit.
He was released from police custody when sober and a report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.
Since 2014 the legal limit in Scotland has been 22 microgrammes of alcohol per 100ml of breath.
