EIGHT local heroes have been rewarded for their fine work in the Helensburgh community thanks to customers of a town supermarket.
Donna Hicks was presented with Prosecco and biscuits in recognition of her volunteering for the Beatson Cancer Charity and her efforts in helping with the Christmas lights switch-on this year, while Peter Whittick, of the Helensburgh and Lomond Foodbank, also received a prize.
Also receiving prizes were Jacqueline Royal Hood, who accepted a posthumous award for George the Helensburgh cat; Sarah Davies from Helensburgh Community Council and the Fun First charity; Catriona Malan and Jean MacAulay from the James Street community garden; Elizabeth Lambert of Helensburgh Litter Pickers, Contraflow and Helensburgh Parish Church; and Fiona Baker of the Friends of Hermitage Park and Destination Helensburgh.
Alison Sturgeon, community champion at Helensburgh Morrisons, said: “We are delighted to recognise our local heroes and it’s a great pleasure to work together with them in our community.”
