THE opening of a new pub in Helensburgh has been pushed back until next spring, according to the company behind the plans.

C.J. Leisure Group was planning to open a new venue, called The Dapper Dug, in November at the former Logie Baird in James Street.

In October the company announced plans to bring more than 20 jobs to the area, with vacancies advertised for management roles, bar and waiting staff, kitchen staff, house keeper positions and door stewards.

However, pub-goers will now have to wait at least another few months before the venue is launched.

A social media post shared last week said: “We’ve been getting a lot of messages asking when we’re opening.

“We’re still planning on opening but won’t be till around March or April 2022.”

The premises have lain vacant since the middle of 2019 when the Logie Baird was closed by its then operators – despite a successful fight against a council-imposed curfew period following a series of late night police incidents.

An internet search for commercial property currently on the market in Helensburgh reveals the premises is still listed for sale or let through Glasgow-based TSA Property Consultants, with a guide price of more than £325,000 or a rental of £35,000 per year.
