A COMMUNITY lottery winner has donated his top prize to a Helensburgh group working to improve the area’s walking routes.

The January 1 draw of the Argyll Community Lottery saw a Mr G match five of the six numbers to claim the top prize of £2,000 and he decided to pledge all of the cash towards the Helensburgh and District Access Trust (HADAT).

A post on the HADAT Facebook page said: “Our local winner of this week’s Argyll Community Lottery draw, who wishes to remain anonymous, has just donated all of their £2,000 winnings to the Access Trust!

“What a wonderful way to start the year with such great support.”

The competition was launched in April last year and players can choose to support good causes across Argyll and Bute.
