Members of Helensburgh Coastguard are encouraging owners of small ships to register their vessels ahead of the summer season.
Boats that are under 24 metres in length and only intended for recreational purposes can join the Small Ship Register.
Registration makes it easy to prove the vessel’s nationality, allowing the owner to travel internationally.
It also helps the authorities return the boat to the owner in the event that it becomes lost by breaking off its anchorage or if it is stolen.
Registration costs £35 and lasts for five years.
