The Scottish Chamber Orchestra (SCO) is set to visit Helensburgh as its annual summer tour returns in June after a two-year gap.

A concert will be held at Victoria Halls on Sunday, June 19, featuring the SCO Strings.

Leader Stephanie Gonley will direct the orchestra in Schubert’s Rondo in A and Elgart’s Serenade for Strings.

The concert will also feature lesser-known works by Arthur Foote and Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson.

Performances of this show will also be held at Blairgowrie Town Hall on June 17, and Callander Kirk on June 18.

The concerts form part of SCO’s summer programme which will see musicians visit 30 towns and cities across the country.

A string of shows and family events will be held from June 9 until September 14 with the aim of bringing world-class music to those who might otherwise not experience it.

The series will kick off with shows featuring principal flautist André Cebrián in Inverness and Drumnadrochit, finishing up with a performance which includes Beethoven’s symphonies in Greenock.

Gavin Reid, SCO chief executive, said: “We’re excited to head off on our summer tour across Scotland once again, inviting music-lovers to join us in celebrating the power of music in connecting people, building communities, and bringing the nation together.

“We look forward to welcoming audiences to share in the joy of live music-making, both in the concert hall and beyond.”
