THE sun shone and there was no shortage of smiles as local charity Fun First ventured outdoors for its Easter family party.

Held in the beautiful James Street Community Garden in the centre of Helensburgh, 50 families enjoyed activities outside to celebrate the start of the Easter holidays - with the youngest participant a mere 13 days old!

Fun First’s chairperson, Sarah Davies, said: “There were some amazing Easter Bonnets crafted at home and paraded proudly by all.

“Everyone enjoyed hunting eggs and bunny footprints as well as creatures painted on stones by members of the local Grey Matters group. Young and old working together to support the community is great to see.

“Easter masks and crafts were created, eggs and bunny footprints hunted and the spring trees decorated with hanging eggs.

“The talented Fun First leaders led a fun and interactive singing session.

“Parents and children enjoyed refreshments and a tombola and many chose to stay afterwards and have a picnic lunch in the park.”

Fun First is now taking a break until the schools return, with summer sessions set to include toddler and parent yoga and baby massage, while the charity also plans to hold sessions in Rosneath for the very first time.

As reported in the Advertiser last month, Fun First is also keeping its fingers crossed after being nominated for the ‘military charity of the year’ prize at the Celebrating Forces Families awards, being held in London on Friday, April 29.
