HELENSBURGH’S young rugby players celebrated a year of growth, development and success at their annual awards dinner and presentation of prizes recently.
The activities of the club’s under-13, under-14, under-15, under-16 and under-18 squads have featured regularly in the Advertiser in recent weeks as the youth rugby season reaches its climax - but it wasn’t just for their performances this season that the young players attending the Ardencaple ceremony were honoured.
Also present at the prize-giving was Peter Burgon, Scottish Rugby’s Glasgow North regional director, who presented the Conference Championship prize won in 2019-20, before the pandemic struck, and in which the current U15, U16 and U18 squads were all involved.
Winners of this season’s awards were as follows.
U13 - player of the season Ben Atkinson, most improved Ryan Sanderson.
U14 - player of the season Charlie Ward, players’ player of the season Charlie Ward.
U15 - player of the season Mace Paterson, most improved Harris Maclean.
U16 - player of the season William Harrison, players’ player of the season Alex Tacchi.
U18 - player of the season Conor Niblock, most improved Thomas Shaw.
Congratulations to all!
