Hundreds of people took advantage of an Easter weekend of good weather to visit The Hill House and Geilston Garden.

The sites each had about 300 visitors over the weekend, with many of those to The Hill House checking it out for the first time.

Children and families could take on trails at both The Hill House and Geilston throughout the weekend, with a chocolate egg reward at the end for their efforts.

It’s the first time since the pandemic hit two years ago that The Hill House has been able to host the annual Easter visits being an indoor site, but the National Trust of Scotland (NTS), which runs both sites, was delighted with the turnout.

Visitor services manager Rachel Thompson said: “It was a really great success.”

Both venues remain open through the year but they also have some events coming up in the months ahead.

Geilston will host summertime trails on Saturday and Sunday, June 25 and 26.

On August 13, there is a Walking Theatre “Midsummer Nights Magic”, and in October, they will host a Hallowe’en Trail on Saturday and Sunday, October 29 and 30.

For more information, visit The Hill House or Geilston online, or search their Facebook pages for opening times and entry fees and details of how to become an NTS member, which - among much else - entitles you to free entry to all NTS properties.
