AN EXHIBITION has opened in Kilcreggan at one of Scotland’s smallest art galleries - and several good causes are set to benefit.

Spring Colours will be on display at the Porch Gallery - otherwise known as the porch and dining room of Templeton Cottage on School Road - until Sunday, May 8.

The exhibition brings together artists from across Scotland, and will raise money for the RNLI.

An auction, of a watercolour painting by artist Fiona Kilgore , will also raise funds for the Blue Cross and the Humane Society International.

These organisations offer support with welfare, vet care, food, and paperwork for those fleeing Ukraine.

The decision was taken to donate to these charities after a friend of the gallery’s organiser, Fiona Holland, helped a Ukrainian mother and her daughter reach their sponsor family in the UK with their cat and dog.

In a Facebook post, Fiona said: “Choosing which charities to help was difficult - but we feel that these two combine the ability to support both people and their animals, which they hold very dear. In some cases, they’re all they have left.

“We hope very much that you will both approve and give generously to help us raise as much as possible to alleviate their pressures.”

Artists on show include Joyce Borland, Euan McGregor PAI, Heather Nevay RGI, and Maeve Dixon.

There are also finely worked wooden items crafted by Maggie Irving, Sarah-Jane Selwood, and The Whisky Chairmen, as well as jewellery by Caitlyn Hegney, Iona Lundie, Helen Reid-Foster, and Val O’Regan.

As well as these, there are ceramic by Nigel Reid-Foster and Molly Bradshaw, sculptures by Richard Reeve and Lesley Carruthers, and textiles from Rosie Loves Bruce.

Among other items available are cards and prints by Carol Anne Calder.

The gallery will be open on Wednesday and Thursday from 12 noon-4:30pm, as well as Friday to Sunday from 12 noon-5:30pm.

The auction will end on Thursday, April 28 at 4:30pm, with a bid of £200 having already been received.
