A GROUP of experts in Scotland’s historic church organs will give a talk on the significance of the organ at St Modan’s Church in Rosneath this week.

The Sowne of Organe team – Chris Bragg from the University of St Andrews, Andrew Forbes from Glasgow Cathedral, and Steven McIntyre from St Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral in Glasgow – will include music, history and images of bits of the organ never seen before.

The team has recently completed a survey of the church's organ - which dates back to 1873 and was built by the renowned 19th-century organ makers of William Hill & Sons – and they promise an informative and entertaining evening exploring why the organ at St Modan’s is so significant, with music, stories and extraordinary images of bits of the organ never seen before.

The talk takes place at the church at 7.30pm on Friday, May 27. Admission is free with a retiring collection in aid of Sowne of Organe and to help with the upkeep of the organ itself.

Tea and coffee will be served afterwards.
