The Arts Society Lomond and Argyll is holding an open day in Helensburgh this week to coincide with the final talk in the organisation’s 2021-22 series - and to mark its 25 years in the area.

The silver anniversary event will give non-members a chance to find out more about the organisation, which is part of a global network of more than 380 societies, what it does, and perhaps to join up ahead of the 2022-23 season.

The event, for which entry is free, takes place at the Victoria Halls on Tuesday, June 14 from 10am onwards, with the lecture by group member Roo Irvine, ‘Mirror, Mirror On the Wall: The Evolution of Glass’, starting at 10.30am and taking those present on a whistle-stop tour covering 9,000 years of glass and its impact on art, culture, beliefs and self-identity.

The presentation will be followed by the unveiling of an Arts Society plinth at the Outdoor Museum in Colquhoun Square at 12.15pm on the same day.
