AN ELECTRONIC dance collective run by brothers who started out using their mum’s ironing board for decks in Helensburgh has been recognised among some of the best parties in the world.

Jasper White and Brendan Campbell, who DJs under the name BRASS TRAXX, launched InterChange in Glasgow in 2018 and have since expanded into London with partner Dwayne, also known as Mindbreak.

The trio’s work was recently featured by electronic dance and clubbing magazine Mixmag as part of its series ‘Functions’ which profiles parties across the globe.

Jasper said: “We were knocked for six by it. To get recognition by, in my opinion, one of the biggest electronic music publications in the world felt really good.

“There have been some challenges along the way, particularly on the backdrop of the pandemic, so it reaffirms that what we’re doing is pretty cool.”

The brothers attribute their love for hosting parties to their grandfather, who hailed from Benbecula in the Western Isles.

Jasper added: “He had a big family house on Mossend Avenue, so I grew up in that kind of environment.

“Usually people want away from their parents’ house, but my aunts and uncles and their friends would always be there.

“He was the head of the ceilidh association, so people would always fall back to Mossend Avenue.

“It’s maybe not in the same kind of vein as our parties, but I definitely think there’s something in the blood there.

“I love organising stuff and bringing people together. I think that comes from that Western Isles culture.”
