COUNCIL officials have been asked to give the green light to a plan for a barrier to close off a removed section of a boundary wall in the centre of Helensburgh.

The applicants, the owners of 27-31 West Princes Street and 1-8 Colquhoun Square, want to plug an opening cut in a brick wall on an access lane off Colquhoun Street.

A statement in support of the planning application, written by agent James Lough of Balloch, states: “The opening in the brick wall was cut out of by the owners of 17-19 West Clyde Street (WCS), against the wishes of the owners of 27-31 West Princes Street and 1-8 Colquhoun Square (WPS/CS).

“What is beyond doubt is that WCS have no rights of access, pedestrian or vehicular, over the private access lane.”

A decision from council officers is expected by July 16.
