A HELENSBURGH man who struggled with police officers nearly two years ago has been put under a curfew for four months.

Douglas Harkin, of Logie Place, previously admitted to repeatedly shouting, swearing, adopting an aggressive demeanour towards and struggling with officers on July 19, 2020 at the A814 near to Westerhill Farm, Cardross. He was on bail at the time from just six days earlier.

The 33-year-old was later sentenced and has since been monitored by social workers and the court.

At Dumbarton Sheriff Court for sentencing on June 17, Sheriff John Hamilton said there had been “progress, of sorts”.

Defence solicitor Judith Reid said: “He is using the help he needs to use.”

The sheriff imposed a restriction of liberty order for four months, requiring Harkin to stay at home between 8pm and 7am each day, except for Monday, Wednesday and Friday when his curfew is 10pm to 7am.
