A Scottish TV comic has weighed in on the Helensburgh pier debate after the project was axed from Argyll and Bute's bid for the UK government's Levelling Up Fund.
Rab Florence, who appeared in the BBC comedy sketch show Burnistoun, took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the subject.
Helensburgh is an amazing place. But I am truly baffled by the lack of care shown to that pier. I cannae get my heid round it. https://t.co/b6i8OaQsbL

In the tweet, he said: "Helensburgh is an amazing place. But I am truly baffled by the lack of care shown to that pier. I cannae get my heid round it.
"All summer you watch big cruise ships come into Greenock, and no way for tourists to ferry across to Helensburgh. Makes no sense to me."
The pier's ommission from the plans was confirmed on Thursday (June 30) as councillors met to approve the bid.
Instead, regeneration bids will be made for Rothesay and Dunoon, as well as transportation bids for the Whisky Islands and the North Lorn Economic Growth Zone.
