SUNSHINE, showers and midges were the order of the day at Geilston Garden, near Cardross, as visitors gathered for the latest Friends of Geilston ‘Sunday in the Garden’ event.
The event, on July 3, saw a steady stream of people pop along to the National Trust for Scotland property throughout the day to enjoy the scenic surroundings and sample the homemade baking on offer.
Also available were cards depicting Geilston Garden, drawn and painted in the garden and donated to support the Friends of Geilston by Friend and artist, Rosemary Small.
Those in attendance were also able to purchase jars of apple, bramble and quince jellies.
The Friends had hoped to add live musical entertainment from the Helensburgh Oratorio Choir to the day’s programme, but unforeseen circumstances meant the choir was unable to perform - though that didn’t stop those who went along to the garden on Sunday enjoying the day.
on for the Friends of Geilston added: “As ever the garden was the star of the show. The kitchen garden is burgeoning with growth and the walled garden an absolute delight.”
The Friends’ next event is a craft fair on Saturday, August 6 which promises something for everyone, including lots of stalls and activities, in the backdrop of the garden.
