Season 2021-22 turned out to be Ardencaple 2007s’ most successful to date as the boys successfully clinched the Paisley and Johnstone Division Three league title with a nail biting final game of the season, a 6-2 away win against Parkmoor in front of a vocal travelling support.

It was followed by a road trip to Dunoon, collecting a second piece of silverware by winning the Argyll Cup.

The start of the season didn’t go to plan with close defeats to Parkmoor 4-3 and Carolside 2-1 before the boys finally clicked for their third match with a great 5-0 victory over St Peters.

Winning the league and showing consistency was a fantastic achievement for a team that lost their first two games of the season, going on to win 16 and draw one of their 20 matches. Remarkably the team were unbeaten away from home winning 10 form 10 games on the road.

The whole squad had a part to play, with the goalkeeper and defence providing a consistently solid platform for the hard-working midfield to supply plenty of ball for the two strikers, enabling the team to score a fantastic 74 goals, conceding only 29 in the league with seven clean sheets.

With the league wrapped up, Ardencaple 2007s were on the road to Dunoon after being invited to compete in the 2022 Argyll Cup competition.

The tournament was held at the Cowal stadium and saw teams from Campbeltown, Dunoon, Lochgilphead, Oban and Ardencaple 2007 from Helensburgh compete in a round robin format – with Ardencaple 2007 coming out on top when all was said and done.
