Helensburgh and Lomond’s GP surgeries have been ranked in a list of best to worst in Scotland - and one of them is in the country's top 10.
A total of 889 surgeries across the country were ranked on a number of factors including percentage of people who rate care at the surgery as excellent or good and the percentage of people who agreed that staff helped them feel in control of their treatment.
Eighth in the table was the practice of Dr David F. Troup and Partner in Arrochar, while all of the Helensburgh and Lomond area's practices were placed in the top half of the rankings.
The table, compiled by the Reach Data Unit based on information published by Public Health Scotland, rated 889 surgeries across Scotland.
Below is how the area's surgeries ranked in each category, with the Scottish average signalled in brackets.
Dr David F Troup and Partner
Topping the list for Helensburgh and Lomond is Dr David F Troup and Partner on Kirkfield Place in Arrochar.
The surgery ranked 8th out of 889.
Of those surveyed:
- 97% rated care at the surgery as excellent or good (67%)
- 94% agreed that staff helped them feel in control of their treatment (62%)
- 99% said they were treated with compassion and understanding (83%)
- 99% said they were listened to (86%)
- 99% said they were able to make a GP appointment three or more working days in advance (48%)
- 99% said they were able to see or speak to a doctor or nurse quite urgently when needed (86%)
- 94% rated information from receptionists as excellent or good (67%)
Kilcreggan Medical Centre
Next up is Kilcreggan Medical Centre which was ranked 147th.
Of those surveyed:
- 90% rated care at the surgery as excellent or good
- 76% agreed that staff helped them feel in control of their treatment
- 87% said they were treated with compassion and understanding
- 91% said they were listened to
- 61% said they were able to make a GP appointment three or more working days in advance
- 96% said they were able to see or speak to a doctor or nurse quite urgently when needed
- 84% rated information from receptionists as excellent or good
Dr McLachlan and Partners
Based at Helensburgh Medical Centre on East King Street, Dr McLachlan and Partners took 149th place on the list.
Of those surveyed:
- 78% rated care at the surgery as excellent or good
- 76% agreed that staff helped them feel in control of their treatment
- 90% said they were treated with compassion and understanding
- 92% said they were listened to
- 76% said they were able to make a GP appointment three or more working days in advance
- 94% said they were able to see or speak to a doctor or nurse quite urgently when needed
- 76% rated information from receptionists as excellent or good
Garelochhead Medical Centre
The Garelochhead Medical Centre in the village's McAulay Place, which merged with Dr McLachlan and Partners in 2018, is next on the list, ranking 171st out of 889.
Of those surveyed:
- 84% rated care at the surgery as excellent or good
- 69% agreed that staff helped them feel in control of their treatment
- 83% said they were treated with compassion and understanding
- 92% said they were listened to
- 77% said they were able to make a GP appointment three or more working days in advance
- 96% said they were able to see or speak to a doctor or nurse quite urgently when needed
- 91% rated information from receptionists as excellent or good
Millig Practice
Also based at Helensburgh Medical Centre, Millig Practice was ranked 388th of 889.
Of those surveyed:
- 74% rated care at the surgery as excellent or good
- 63% agreed that staff helped them feel in control of their treatment
- 87% said they were treated with compassion and understanding
- 92% said they were listened to
- 30% said they were able to make a GP appointment three or more working days in advance
- 93% said they were able to see or speak to a doctor or nurse quite urgently when needed
- 74% rated information from receptionists as excellent or good
