A team of volunteers in Rosneath have come together in a bid to salvage the village’s Princess Louise Hall.

The hall, which has been out of use since 2015, was previously managed by the Princess Louise Hall Committee registered charity which is now in default.

Prior to the Covid lockdown in March 2020, resident and volunteer Maggie Irving approached Rosneath and Clynder Community Council to propose that that charity was reinstated.

A special committee made up of four members was tasked with holding a public meeting to discuss the issue, however, the pandemic and other organisational problems have seen progress delayed.

The group, which is made up of seven people, has now take over the planning of the public meeting to support the special committee.

Maggie said: “We are determined to push this through and do the heavy lifting to get this meeting off the ground.

“This has got to be more than a hall - it needs to be a facility that fulfils all the needs of the whole community.”

Maggie and the other volunteers are urging as many people as possible to attend the meeting, which will be held at Rosneath Primary School on Thursday, August 25 at 7pm.

She added: “It’s their hall. It’s really, really important that they determine what they would like to see and that they’re involved right from the outset.

“This committee is their committee, and it’s not a scary thing to be part of a charity. To be a charity trustee doesn’t need to take up a lot of time.

“It’s good for the community to have as diverse a committee as possible, and I’m really passionate about young people getting involved.”

It is hoped people will be able to join the meeting virtually on Microsoft Teams as well as in-person.
