Children were ‘happy and relaxed’ as they took part in a session at Helensburgh’s Pitter Patter Potter last weekend.

Those who attended at the West Clyde Street studio were encouraged to get creative and use their imagination while painting their pieces.

Owner Lorna Davies said: “The session went very well and everyone was happy, relaxed and enjoyed their time with us at Pitter Patter Potter.

“For children it is really important that they have opportunities to be creative, to let go of the ‘rules’ and truly be allowed to explore with new ideas and new ways of doing things.

“We are always amazed at the great ideas children come up with and what fun they have making a rainbow coloured giraffe or a bright pink dog - they just love throwing out the rule book and living in their imagination for a while.

“We must give all our children time and opportunity to have unstructured creative play as it helps with brain development, growth and problem solving skills.

“Painting is a mindful activity and everyone who paints with us comments on how relaxed they feel afterwards, this is because you become absorbed in the painting activity.

“You can switch off to everyday worries and thoughts and just be in your creative moment and we all need these types of activities in our lives, It’s not just for children.

“Last week Pitter Patter Potter had our first birthday, we can’t believe that’s been a year already, we look forward to many more.”

Pitter Patter Potter is open every day from 10am to 4pm during the school holidays, and runs two crafting and connection sessions per week during term time.

These are held from 7pm-9pm on Tuesdays, and 7:30pm-9pm on Thursdays.

On Friday night, Lorna runs an adult only ‘sip ‘n’ paint’ session.

The studio is also open on Saturday and Sunday from 11am-4pm, with families welcome to attend together.

Lorna added: “We love that a family of three generations come along to paint together.”
