Loch Lomond Brewery is set to expand its horizons by releasing a range of Scottish gin, whisky, and rum made at its new facility.

Dalrigh Distillery, a new lowland distilling house, is readying its casks for the first malts – with only 100 being put into production this year.

The team behind the plans they will use the “very finest grains and botanicals grown in Scotland” to create Dalrigh Scotch whiskies and gins, with the Dalrigh rum using molasses and sugar cane for a true taste of the Caribbean.

The distillery is the latest venture by the multi-award winning brewery, which has been running since 2011.

Fiona MacEachern, managing director, said: “We have been at the front of award-winning beer-making for many years now and a natural progression for the knowledge we have with barley, other grains, and yeasts is to work that into an amazing range of single grain and single malt whiskies with some interesting options for blends.

“We are looking forward to the exciting challenges that this most prestigious of products will set before us.

“For too long, the term ‘Scottish craft’ has been hijacked by those who have taken shortcuts, often buying from large distilleries which are neither located in, nor sourced from, Scotland. We believe provenance should be both clear and honest.”

Half of the whisky casks are now available on presale, with investors being offered the chance to become part of the Dalrigh Founders’ Club – something which the distillery says is “a unique opportunity to be part of Scotch whisky history”.

Distilling from the former family grounds of Robert the Bruce, the company hopes its plans can bring new beginnings with a firm foundation in old traditions.

Fiona added: “We like to think The Bruce would have been happy to raise a dram o' Dalrigh for auld lang syne.”
