A COMMUNITY charity set up to help military veterans and their families in Helensburgh and Lomond has hailed its "fantastic" start to 2023 after holding its first brunch of the year.

Garelochhead Station Trust welcomed old friends and new - including the dog Roxy - to the event that restarts their regular activities, including line dancing, craft group and model making.

The group said: "What a fantastic start to 2023 - a great turnout for our first brunch of the year.

"It was lovely to see everyone again and to welcome some new members too, especially the lovely Roxy, whose human is one of our new members.

"As usual our trustees, volunteers and staff knocked it out the park with great food, service, company and some beautiful table decorations made by our very own Lynne.

"We look forward to an exciting year ahead, we have some themed brunches coming up (more info nearer the time) are still running our weekly line dancing and carpet bowls clubs and our fortnightly craft and model making groups.

"Over the course of the year we will be arranging some day trips to places of interest (suggestions welcome). Welcome back everyone and thank you for your continued and appreciated support."

Tuesday, January 24 sees the next fortnightly craft group gathering, with model making on Thursday, January 26. Both groups meeting at 2pm until 4pm at Centre 81.

The next brunch will be January 31 and there is a sepcial Valentine's brunch on February 14.
